Juliana Woodill is the choral director at Fairfax High School. She began teaching in 2009 and has taught music across all ages in Fairfax County Public Schools. Her choirs consistently receive superior ratings at local and state adjudications. In 2018, her choir Bella Canzone, from Lanier Middle School, performed at the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference. She guest conducts throughout the state for county and District events. She is also a clinician and trained adjudicator who judges auditions and assessments throughout Virginia. She has worked on the curriculum development team for choral music in Fairfax County and served as the President for the Fairfax County Choral Directors Association from 2019-2021. She presents regularly at state conferences and regional events, with a focus on music literacy and conducting gesture.
Juliana received her education from Westminster Choir College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with dual Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Musical Theater on ‘09. She studied conducting with Dr. Joe Miller, and sang with the Westminster Symphonic Choir under the baton of many conducting greats. She has also participated in master class conducting workshops with Rollo Dilworth, Rodney Eichenberger and Christopher Aspaas. In February of this year, she founded the Archdiocesan Choir of Washington, D.C. They perform in the DC area and lead workshops and educational events for Orthodox musicians. She has been a featured conductor for the Pan-Orthodox Music Symposium in Minneapolis, MN for two years, and teaches annually at Orthodox summer music programs and seminaries. She also conducts at All Saints of America Orthodox Church in Alexandria, VA.
