Yes! We are looking forward to singing together during all classes.
Yes at this time, all students must be masked at all times - and particularly while singing. It is the most important mitigation strategy to prevent the spread of Covid while singing together. At this time, we will also wear masks when performing. If and when this guidance changes, you will be updated.
Students will be at least 3 feet apart while singing, and may be further distanced when space allows.
At this time, we have a full season of concerts planned for the year with normal audience sizes. These will take place in the auditorium or atrium depending on the size of the concert and number of singers. We are working on a plan to allow streaming of our concerts as well! If this changes, and we cannot perform in a normal concert, students will gather to record music as an ensemble, and then we will stream that event.
At this time we are continuing to watch guidance from FCPS and health metrics for the area. We hope to be able to plan a trip for later this year as safety allows!
Your donation supports the choral program in many ways! The FHSCPA uses funds to support ordering music, paying concert musicians, celebrating students (ex senior signs, or goodie bags) providing food for students at various events and rehearsals, and offsetting trip costs for all students.
This year FHS is offering 3 curricular choirs, and 2 after school a cappella groups - open to current FHS choral students.
Yes at this time all extra-curricular events are on the calendar as in a normal year. This will include opportunities for students to audition for District, State, and National Honor Choirs, as well as local extra performances and events. Our Student Choir Council is planning several fun events for our choir students throughout the year.
